How to Get to Capri
The only way to reach Capri is via the sea: by ferry or hydrofoil from Naples and Sorrento all year round, from Positano, Amalfi, Salerno and Ischia only during the summer, when most tourists travel. You will not be allowed to bring your own car or motorcycle to the island, except from early November to Easter. On the other hand, a car would be of little use for you in Capri: there is only one roadway (crossing the whole isle from Marina Grande to Faro Punta Carena) and good public transport is available. This jewel island has three main areas: Marina Grande, where the harbor is, and the historical centers of Capri and Anacapri.

Tiberius’ Leap
While approaching the coast of Capri, you will realize that the coast is rugged, with a lot of caves and coves which alternate to steep cliffs. It is a precipice about 1,000 feet above the sea, from where the Roman emperor Tiberius used to throw the sentenced subjects before they were hit to death by a team of sailor-servants.
Blue Grotto
The caves, hidden under the cliffs, were used by the ancient Romans who owned villas on the island as temples sacred to sea nymphs. The most famous among these is the Blue Grotto, which will enchant you thanks to its amazing light effects. To be noted: the Blue Grotto is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is closed to visitors during rough seas or high winds. It is not allowed to swim inside this grotto!
Green Grotto
Cruising on the opposite side of the island, and after about half a day spent relaxing, swimming and admiring natural landscapes, you will reach another wonderful cave, this one with emerald water inside, hence its name: Green Grotto. This grotto has two entrances, one below and one over the water surface, from which it is possible to swim inside. This cave was used by the Turkish pirates as an outpost to ambush the boats on the way and plunder them.
Faraglioni Rocks
Navigating back to the Amalfi Coast, you cannot help but notice one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Capri, the three Faraglioni. The first rock, attached to the mainland, is the Faraglione di Terra; the middle one is the Faraglione di Mezzo, and the third one, reaching out to the sea, is the Faraglione di Fuori. The latter is the only habitat in the whole world for a rare species: the blue lizard. It can be said that the Faraglioni are the symbol of Capri and are some of the most photographed spots.
